Being Canada\u2019s most common cancer and the one that is responsible for the most deaths, it is unsurprising that this is the unfortunate case. Many people attribute lung cancer\u2019s high incidence rate to smoking. However, this is not the whole story.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>While the relationship between smoking and the incidence of lung cancer is well established, lung cancer is still among the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in never-smokers. The myth that lung cancer is brought on by behaviors and that avoiding smoking means you won\u2019t get lung cancer is just simply not true. This is something that affects all of us, and that is why November has been deemed Lung Cancer Awareness Month by Lung Cancer Canada. Myths like this one as well as others need to be brought to attention and the discussion around lung cancer needs to change and that is exactly what Lung Cancer Canada aims to do.<\/p>\n<!-- \/wp:paragraph -->\n\n<!-- wp:paragraph -->\n<p>Lung Cancer Canada is a national charitable organization that through programs such as Lung Cancer Awareness Month aim to provide resources for education, patient support, research and advocacy. But they can\u2019t do it without our support.
